Who are Alltech?
In the 1970s, the Irish biochemist Pearse Lyons migrated to the USA with his family to make his dream come true: to find a way to feed the planet in the most natural way possible. This led to the birth of Alltech in Lexington, Kentucky in 1980. The company grew and is now a major stakeholder, with offices and production units across the globe.
In which sector does the company operate?
Alltech has specialised in the development of innovative solutions to improve the health and performances of plants, animals and foodstuffs. The company offers a wide range of products and services, notably food additives, nutritional ingredients, animal health products, solutions for the quality management of foodstuffs as well as fermentation technologies. It provides products for animal feeds for herds and agriculture, as well as for the agri-food sector. To meet its targets, the company uses the ACE principle: Animal, Consumer, Environment.
Why choose Normandy?
The Alltech company already had two offices, in Nantes and Paris. In 2013, the choice of Normandy to set up a new office was not a matter of luck. The region is renowned for its agriculture, and is home to many horse stud farms and stables. Hence, there were many potential clients for the company. As Pearse Lyons, the CEO of the company explains:
“With the opening of Normandy, we supply more than 10 000 dairy producers and 3 000 horse breeders in the region.”

The choice for the set-up was in Vire, with its reputation in the equine sector. The opening of the Alltech offices in Normandy was officially announced at the opening of the FEI World Equestrian Games of 2014, a competition sponsored by Alltech.
Investing to renew:
In Normandy, the sponsorship of the FEI World Equestrian Games was a trampoline for the company, offering it new opportunities in the region and reinforcing both its presence and impact in the sector. To maintain its objective of the most natural nutrition possible, Alltech is continually investing and renewing within its different offices across the globe. With this commitment, the company is continuing to contribute to agriculture and breeding in Normandy, offering innovative solutions and choosing sustainable practices for the well-being of animals and the quality of its products.
What is the future for Alltech in Normandy?
Innovation is at the heart of its development strategy. Normandy’s favourable ecosystem offers an excellent test-bed for Alltech to achieve its objectives. As a solutions provider for agriculture and breeding, the company will be in a position to meet the needs of stakeholders from across the region, offering innovations and sustainable practices to improve performance, animal health and the quality of agricultural products.
